Hello, my name is Rachel.
I completed my master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy in Hong Kong and qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2023. Before that, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Translation. Born and raised in Hong Kong, I am multilingual and speak Cantonese and Mandarin.
Before joining Words First, I worked as a speech therapist in a special school in Hong Kong, supporting children and young adults with complex needs. Apart from supporting students in a school setting, I also supported adults with dysphagia and neurological disorders in various community settings. My areas of special interest are autism, bilingualism and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. I am looking forward to improving my professional knowledge and clinical skills in these areas.
I really appreciate the supportive network at Words First. The value that resonates the most with me is “flexibility” as it facilitates smoother work to support staff and children under different conditions and changes at school. By adopting a flexible approach to work, I believe it helps everyone become more open to trying new ideas, and will find more ways to improve communication, creativity, productivity and engagement!
I love spending time with friends and family. Spending quality time with loved ones is essential to happiness. We always do shopping and cooking together. Outside of work, you will find me enjoying the sunshine and exercising. I also enjoy journalling because it is a good option to relax and reflect on myself. If you had to call my best friend and ask her to describe me, I think she’d describe me as “self-motivated, cheerful and responsible”.
