Hello, my name is June.
I studied MSc Speech and Language Therapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, and graduated and qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2018. Before that, I earned my bachelor’s degree in English Language from Newcastle University.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, I am multilingual and speak Cantonese and Mandarin. Before joining Words First, I worked as a support worker supporting autistic adults in the community and as an English tutor in Hong Kong.
I joined Words First in December 2018 and have a keen interest in working with children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as those with complex trauma and attachment histories. In addition to supporting students in a school setting, I also supervise and support other therapists and co-lead the SEMH clinical pathway within Words First.
In my therapeutic work, I have begun applying Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) principles to my SaLT practice. I love the Words First family and the amazing support network we have here—from clinical to peer supervision. I started as a newly qualified therapist at Words First and would not have grown so much without the support and guidance of the fantastic team here! I also enjoy the flexibility in what I do and the variety of clients I get to work with.
The Words First value that resonates most with me is collaboration and support. Words First allows me to work collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines and gives me the opportunity to support other therapists who share the same passion as I do.
Outside of work, you’ll find me upside down in a pole fitness studio or doing reformer Pilates a few evenings a week. I also enjoy the theatre, opera, and travelling—a lot! If you had to call my best friend and ask her to describe me, I think she’d say I’m bubbly, energetic, and empathetic.
