Hello my name is Alex.

I qualified and earned my degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2020.

I have experience working in specialist school settings and I’m passionate about working with young children with SEN. I believe in building strong partnerships with families and educators to create meaningful communication opportunities. I love seeing my clients grow in confidence and find their voice – whether through words, signs, or technology.

The Words First value that resonates the most with me is keeping the student’s best interest at the heart of all our decisions. By centering the student’s unique needs, strengths, and well-being, we create an inclusive, empowering environment where they can thrive authentically rather than conform to external expectations. This commitment ensures that our support is compassionate, individualised, and respectful of neurodiversity.

A book that has had a big impact on my life is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I love this book because it taught me the power of empathy and moral courage through characters like Atticus Finch, who defends what’s right even when it’s unpopular. Scout’s journey – learning to see the world beyond prejudice – still inspires me to question injustice and approach others with kindness and an open mind.
