Hi my name is Sarah,
I am the Head of Service at Words First. I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2001 at The University of Manchester. Throughout my career, I have worked in diverse paediatric settings including mainstream primary and secondary schools, special schools, and resource provisions.
I spent 16 years with the NHS, managing the Secondary School Team for the Central London Community Health Team. I joined Words First in February 2017. I have always valued collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support children and young people. As a therapist working in schools for Words First, I have been able to provide a truly customised interdisciplinary service by following evidence-based research and applying this knowledge to meet each school’s specific needs. This approach allowed me to offer services tailored to both the school and its students.
In my current role as Head of Service at Words First, I bring my knowledge and experience to the senior leadership team to help develop the company vision and strategy. By working closely with and supporting each team around every therapist and school, I strive to uphold our mission to ‘make a difference to lives every single day’.
I truly enjoy my role as Head of Service and am excited to be part of a forward-thinking, dynamic team committed to delivering high-quality, impactful interdisciplinary services for children and their families.
