Hello, my name is Andrew, and I am the Head of Psychology at Words First.
I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, and have dedicated my career to supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential.
My journey in psychology began with extensive experience in educational settings, particularly supporting learners with Special Educational Needs. After completing my Master’s degree in 2016, I joined Cedarwood School, where I worked with both Preparatory and College students during my internship year. In 2018, I registered as an Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Since then, I have worked extensively with schools across South Africa, providing psycho-educational assessments, supporting concession applications, delivering individual and group interventions, providing play therapy and facilitating staff development. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain adaptable, emotionally resilient and effective when working in complex and demanding situations.
A core part of my professional approach is supporting the growth and development of others. I am passionate about helping children, young people, families and professionals build on their strengths and achieve meaningful outcomes. As Head of Psychology, I am committed to fostering neuro-affirming, evidence-informed and collaborative practice that empowers children, families and schools to thrive.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, cycling, watching sport and making the most of the outdoors.
