Hello, my name is Kate!
I am a Speech and Language Therapist who qualified in South Africa at Stellenbosch University in 2024. I am not HCPC registered in the UK, but my application is in progress. I have experience supporting a range of communication needs and am passionate about helping individuals communicate effectively and confidently.
I am particularly interested in supporting individuals within educational settings and value building positive relationships with staff and families. I aim to create supportive, engaging and functional interventions that help children reach their full potential.
The Words First value that resonates most with me is interdisciplinary practice. I enjoy working collaboratively to support communication development in meaningful, practical ways that carry over into everyday environments. I believe that communication is fundamental to learning, confidence and social connection. Supporting individuals to develop their communication skills can have a meaningful and lasting impact across all areas of their lives.
I enjoy learning new things and spending time outdoors, particularly going on hikes.
If you were to ask my best friend to describe me in three words, I think she would say I am extroverted, inquisitive and kind.
