Hello, my name is Ellen.
In 2020, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Before joining Words First, I worked in a specialist provision for children and young people (CYP) with language impairments. Moving to Words First provided me with more opportunities to use my additional training in Ayres Sensory Integration and Makaton.
I currently work across a mix of settings, including specialist provisions for SEMH and Autism, as well as at the Kids First Clinic. I am passionate about integrating OT into schools and supporting teachers and families to understand the needs of their CYP so that they can flourish across all the environments they navigate.
The Words First value that resonates most with me is interdisciplinary practice, as it ensures a holistic approach to supporting the CYP and their family.
In my spare time, I love to bake and exercise. I enjoy yoga, running, and being out in nature whenever I can. I regularly fly “home home” to Ireland to see my family, pets, and friends. If you had to call my best friends and ask them to describe me, I think they’d say I’m kind, calm, and loyal.
