Hello, my name is Gel, and I’ve been an Occupational Therapist for over ten years.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines in 2014 and am currently studying for a master’s in Occupational Therapy at the same university, while completing further training in Sensory Integration at Ulster University.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and young people aged 1 to 25, supporting them and their families across various settings. In the UK, I worked with the Special Education Needs and Disability Service in Barking and Dagenham, providing assessments and delivering OT support in schools to meet the needs outlined in Education, Health, and Care Plans.
I am now focusing on supporting young people with autism and complex needs within school settings. I am passionate about occupation-based practice, helping young people engage in meaningful activities that enable them to fulfil their roles in daily life. I also enjoy making sensory integration practical and accessible for teachers and school staff so they can confidently support students in everyday school environments.
The Words First value that resonates with me most is the emphasis on working collaboratively with other professionals to create personalised, practical strategies for each child that can be confidently implemented in everyday settings.
Outside of work, I’ve found a love for yoga and reading poetry, and I enjoy exploring the city—there is always something new to discover.
