Hello, my name is Sophie!
I am originally from Ireland and recently completed my MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Essex.
Before training as a Speech and Language Therapist, I completed a degree in Early Childhood Education in Dublin, which first sparked my passion for supporting children’s development and learning. I have recently joined Words First and am excited to begin my career working in mainstream primary schools.
I am particularly passionate about helping children to develop their communication skills and confidence. I believe therapy is most effective when families and teachers are closely involved, as this ensures that strategies can be integrated into everyday routines and environments.
The Words First value that resonates most with me is “student’s best interest.” I believe placing the child at the centre of everything we do is essential. By taking a holistic, strengths-based approach, each child receives personalised support that reflects their unique needs, helping them feel understood, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing sports, exploring fashion, and spending time with friends and family. If you asked my best friend to describe me, I think they would say I am approachable, caring and motivated.
