Hello, my name is Whitney. 

I graduated in 2024 from the University of Essex with a degree in Speech and Language Therapy. During my studies, I had the opportunity to complete a diverse range of clinical placements—including one at Words First—which provided me with a strong foundation of clinical knowledge and practical skills to support young people in improving their communication and overall quality of life. 

I have a particular interest in working with the paediatric population, especially children with speech sound disorders, as I am developing a growing passion for phonetic transcription. I am enthusiastic about supporting children through various stages of their development, helping them to thrive both academically and socially. 

I strongly value holistic and collaborative working, particularly with schools and families, to ensure that children’s communication needs are supported in every environment. This partnership approach helps create consistent and meaningful change for the students we work with. 

The Words First value that resonates most with me is “keeping the student’s best interest at the heart of all our decisions.” I believe this ensures that our work remains compassionate, tailored, and impactful for every child. 

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling the world and reading. If you asked my best friend to describe me, I think they’d say I’m creative, outgoing, and kind.
