Hello, Manchester!
Words First is growing. For over 15 years, we have supported schools across London with high-quality therapy services grounded in collaboration, clinical excellence, and child-centred practice. With over 150 passionate therapists and longstanding partnerships with more than 350 schools, we have built a community on shared values and a deep commitment to making a difference. As we expand into Manchester, we are proud to extend that same standard of care to a new region, led by therapists who bring knowledge, integrity, and meaningful impact to their work.
We are excited to introduce Gayathri, an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who will be leading our presence in Manchester from September. She brings a global perspective, extensive clinical knowledge, and a strong commitment to evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming practice. Her move signals the beginning of an exciting new phase for Words First in the North.
Leading With Clinical Excellence
Gayathri brings nearly ten years of experience in a variety of school and clinic settings. Her previous roles involved working in both mainstream and special needs schools, where she supported children with a range of needs.
Since joining Words First, Gayathri has supported Autism ARPs through our LBBD contract, delivering high-impact therapy and building strong relationships with students, families, SENCOs, and teachers.
“My clinical skills strengthened quickly through the complexity of my caseload and the structured support I received. I became more confident, more efficient, and more collaborative.”
Gayathri also stepped into mentoring and practice educator roles, where her ability to guide others and share her expertise was quickly recognised.
“Mentoring made me realise how much I had to offer. Supporting others has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my role so far.”
Why Stay With Words First?
When Gayathri made the decision to leave London, she explored several opportunities in other regions. It quickly became clear that Words First remained the right fit.
“I wasn’t just looking for a new job. I wanted to continue working in an environment where growth, professional integrity, and collaboration are prioritised. That is what I found at Words First, and that is what I want to carry with me to Manchester.”
Her decision to stay was reinforced by a culture of genuine support.
“From the beginning, I felt respected and listened to. When I faced a personal challenge, I received not only empathy but also practical support from senior leaders. That kind of leadership is rare and deeply appreciated.”
Expanding With Strength and Support
As she moves into her new role, Gayathri brings with her the confidence of a seasoned therapist and the full support of a national team.
“My experience in London has prepared me to lead. I’ve worked in diverse settings, managed complex caseloads, and collaborated with educators, families, and colleagues across disciplines. I’m ready to bring that experience to Manchester.”
Gayathri will continue to be supported through Words First’s clinical pathways and its interdisciplinary team of highly specialist therapists. This ensures that the therapy she delivers in Manchester reflects the same high standards we are known for across London.
She looks forward to building strong partnerships with schools in Manchester and embedding high-quality, evidence-based practice from the start.
Staying Connected and Making an Impact
Although she will be based in a new region, Gayathri remains closely connected to the wider Words First team.
“The relationships I have built within Words First are not dependent on location. Through regular CPD, virtual meetings, and team collaboration, we continue to learn from each other and grow together.”
Looking Ahead
Gayathri’s move is part of a wider expansion that reflects what Words First stands for. We are committed to delivering excellent therapy, supporting our team, and building long-lasting relationships with the schools and communities we work with.
If you are a school in Manchester or elsewhere in the UK looking for a trusted therapy partner that really works with you, we would love to hear from you.
