Speech and Language Therapist

Hello, my name is Diana.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Heimerer College in Kosovo in 2021. During my studies, I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of settings, including mainstream and special education schools, clinical institutions, associations, and hospitals.

In March 2024, I completed a Master’s degree in Special Education at Portland State University in the United States. Studying abroad gave me the chance to explore a different approach to education and therapy, allowing me to integrate the strengths of both systems into my own professional practice.

I’ve now been working in Speech and Language Therapy outside of the UK for four years. One area I’m especially passionate about is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), a vital yet often undervalued aspect of the field in many parts of the world. I believe every child deserves a voice and a chance to share their world with others, and that is not limited to speech alone. My goal is to empower students, help them express themselves in whatever way works best for them, and show them that learning can be fun and rewarding. I often say that I learn just as much from my students as they do from me.

The core value of Words First that resonates most with me is ‘keeping the student’s best interest at heart’. I believe this is at the core of our work – helping students thrive and supporting them to become the best versions of themselves.

Outside of my work, I love exploring new places, listening to music, and connecting with people. I’m a naturally easygoing person, and if you were to ask my best friends to describe me, I think they’d say I’m curious, empathetic, and always ready to laugh.
